Jim Maunder was commissioned by Loblaw Properties Limited to create a sculpture commemorating the St. John’s Memorial Stadium (now occupied by a Dominion Store). The stadium was the 4,000-seat multi-purpose arena, hosting many sporting events and concerts. The last hockey game was played on April 4, 2001.
The uplifting figures represent the unity of people drawn together by the place - a celebration of community spirit.
