Bidgood Park, Goulds
Power's Rd., Goulds, NL A1S 1G9
Bidgood Park is situated on land donated to the City of St. John's by Roger and Jennie Bidgood of Goulds. A Planning and Development Committee comprising government officials and community organizations was formed in 2003 to implement the development of the park.
Officially opened in 2014, the park features a life-sized bronze figure of a farmer working a scythe, representing the community's farming heritage. Newfoundland artist Gerald Squires created the statue and the dedication plaque expressing the Bidgoods' wishes "to ensure that a part of the Newfoundland outdoors they loved so much would be preserved for the enjoyment of generations to come."
